Harry Moskos–journalist and streetcar advocate (also my uncle)–writes in the Albuquerque Journal, “Obama’s Birthers Should Check Out My Daughters’ Papers.”
Our two daughters, like Obama, were born in Honolulu. We lived in Hawaii from 1963 to 1969.
…
Obama was born at Kapi’olani Medical Center for Women & Children, the same hospital where our daughters were born.
Read the exciting truth about Barrack Hussein Obama’s supposed native-born American birth!
I'm not a birther, I believe Obama was born in Hawaii.
But when bored, in addition to this blog, I read a forum that is full of conspiracy nut's ramblings. Aliens, World Bank, 9/11 Truthers and birthers all in one place!
Your uncle's story is not going to quiet the birthers. In fact it may stoke them up. It is the little unintended inconsistencies that keep these people going.
Obama's doctor is not listed on his certificate of live birth. Why are both your cousin's doctors listed, but not obama's?
The hospital where Obama was born is not listed on the certificate of live birth.
According to the hospitals website, Kapi’olani Medical Center for Women & Children supposedly didn't exist yet in 1961. Your cousins 'couldn't' have been born there. It was probably called Kapi’olani maternity and gynocological hospital or home.
Oh, and as a general statement, I believe there to be about an equal number of right wing loonies/liars as there are left wing loonies/liars.
I think the fact that there was a birth announcement in the local paper is pretty good sign that he was actually born… or just incredible advance planning on the part of the Vast Left Wing Conspiracy!
Look, I think there are an equal number of right and left-wing loonies. No doubt.
But right now right-wing loonies are more dangerous to me and this country. I didn't think W Bush was legitimately elected the first time around. Does that make a left-wind loony? Oh well, I sucked it up, never talked about moving to Canada, and was fully confident that I could vote again in four years! (we lost that one too)
The problem with today's right-wing loonies is that they are questioning the very foundations of our constitutional democracy. Fine if they stay a fringe group. Not fine if they have power. This is dangerous.
Nuts on the left aren't saying the president doesn't have the power to give military orders. Nuts on the left aren't part of armed succession moments. Nuts on the left don't have an violent undercurrent talking about "taking back America"–from our democratically elected leader, no less.
The former vice president described Obama with the exact language found in the Constitution that defines treason.
I mean for Christ's sake, the Republican Vice-Presidential candidate's husband was part of a succession movement. Not since the antebellum South has succession been considered patriotic.
Palin herself called people like me not "real Americans" both for my beliefs and simply for where I live! Speaking for 8 million New Yorkers and the majority of voting Americans who voted for Obama, I find that talk kind of offensive.
I was also considered unpatriotic for being against the Iraq war. Hmmm, turns out I was right. I could have been wrong, but seems like being right should count for something.
I would gladly accept an apology–to date I have received none–from anybody who then considered even questioning the president's decision to go to war as tantamount to treason… but now agrees that the war was a mistake.
If people want to be nuts, fine with me. Go join a cult or commune, live off the grid, believe in alien abduction or the Rapture, fear the Illuminati… fine with me! Just do so quietly and please leave me alone.
I think we need to do a better job at calling out some right-wing nuts as the unpatriotic threats to democracy they are.
I don't think the current bunch of right wing nuts are as large a group as they are portrayed to be.
The R's are playing it up to try to start momentum for a Nov turnover. The D's are playing it up to get their base out to vote. And the media is playing it up for a good story.
Bush had his code pink/illegal war/election stealer protestors, now Obama has his tea party/birther/government encroachment protestors.
I didn't really think Cindy Sheehan had much of a following despite how much coverage she got, and I don't think Palin has it now either.
I can see the resemblance in Uncle Harry's picture!
