RIP William H. Torbit Jr.

Officer Torbit’s funeral was yesterday. It must have been painful.

Meanwhile on Tuesday night, another officer, a homicide detective, was shot. What a friggin’ job.

I’ll be back in the U.S. in a week. Everything seems very distant from here in Bangkok.

  2. I don't think Pete ment to disrespect William Torbit. I worked with Officer William Torbit and he was a great guy.
OFFICER WILLIAM TORBIT YOU ARE A TRUE HERO AND WILL BE MISSED !! REST IN PEACE BROTHER !!

  3. Thanks, Gotti. Of course I didn't mean any disrespect. What I mean is that it's tough to be reading about police funerals and then on the same day hear that another officer is shot, perhaps a friend you went to the academy with.

What a job, indeed. What other job do people face the risk of getting shot and killed every day? And for what? Small pay and changing retirement ages? Police need more respect. And I hope my respect for the job is clear through this blog.

I didn't know officer Torbit personally. And while that makes it easier for me to deal with his death, I know very well what it's like to have a friend and fellow officer killed on duty. So my heart goes to everybody affected by this.
