Moskos presented an unreflective view of himself and a fairly uncritical view of the police and the justice system. At least he acknowledged that he did not have the ability to understand the others he superficially observed.

I do find it hard to understand why anybody would want to kill me or another police officer.
In truth, I observed others quite thoroughly. In the Eastern District, superficial observations can get you killed. I went home every night. All my friends weren’t so lucky.
And I’m very critical of the justice system. It’s bad for everybody.
