1. Good Article. We have Cameras in our cruiser's right now. I have found them to be a benefit. After a defendant testified in traffic court. I only had to hold up a DVD in my hand telling the judge the whole stop is on video. She asked the defendant if he wanted me to play it….. He said no…. Guilty!

   You also have to watch yourself on the vidoes and critique yourself. It's a benefit to do that too.

2. I understand the concerns about Big Brother, but, on balance, this should be a good thing. Both sides of the encounter will be more inclined to better handle themselves when they know there's a recording; unreliable eyewitness accounts can be the credibility they deserve.

   I hadn't thought of how this can help cops critique their own work, but CPM's point is well taken.

   This also protects the cop from a later allegation of brutality, when the suspect sees he's a sure loser in curt and is looking for a way out.
