Kill kill kill

If the state can censor sexfrom the eyes of children, why can it not censer violence? Isn’t sex better than violence? It certainly is more fun.

I guess I’ll have to read the Supreme Court’s decision

And consider this: perhaps the more violent video games of the past few decades have actually contributed to the dropin crime. I’m not saying it has, but it’s a hypothesis I’d be very willing to consider.

  1. Economics would support the idea that violent video games are a substitute good for committing violence, and it's backed up by psychology as well. My master's thesis was actually about those sorts of things, concluding that, at the very least, adolescent exposure to violent imagery does not INCREASE their likelihood to commit violent acts.

The more distasteful reality is the availablity of child pornography on the internet is an even stronger link as a substitute good to the decrease in child molestation.

Yeah, right. I'm sure the Freakonomics guys could find such a cause-and-effect for you. Or maybe it's because of the rising CO2 levels in the atmosphere…

  3. Or maybe it's because kids sit on their ass playing games inside rather than being outside raising hell! That's not so hard to believe.

  4. Regarding porn in general it's fairly clear that the availability of it has reduced sex crimes. Please don't let my feminist friends know that. They consider porn itself a crime in and of itself.

Child porn is a slightly different issue. There can be no reasonable argument that the making of such porn is not exploiting and harmful to children.

    So what do we do?

As distasteful as it is "virtual child porn" may serve to satisfy the base instincts of the consumers of such porn without actually harming any children. Plus it might reduce the incidents of child molestation.

I'm not going to use my normal screen name here because the whole concept creeps me out. That being said if it can reduce the number of children molested……
