Storming of the Capitol

The these clips are all taken from a 40-minute video by John Sullivan, aka Jayden X. (He was clearly into this, by the way, assisting and cheering along. But document he did.) I’ll taken some clips from his video.

The full video is here. It’s worth watching, because these events always are about the passage of time, and not just the incidents.

1) The gates are broken down. (0:10. this is the approximate time in the original 40 video, to give a sense of passage of time.)

2) The barbarians storm the walls. This is an unbelievable scene. I think the last time so many stormed the walls of civilization was 1453 “Tear gas. Mace.” “Woo Woo” “It’s ours. It’s ours. Come on. Let’s go. Listen to at ’em all back there. Fucking patriots.” (2:50)

3) “They starting shooting at us.” “Rubber bullet.” “Who cares. Just a rubber bullet. It does hurt. No reason to run.” “I’ve got one. Yeah dude.” It takes very little force to turn people back. That said, there are hundreds if not thousands behind them. (5:20)

4) The building is breached. Entry is made. (6:08)

5) Cops pushing people out. It’s actually not that hard to do. It looks like many of these people have never been a fight. (8 min)

6) Five or six cops holding a line against many. The manage to hold the line for about 3 minutes. (10 min)

7) Another breach, after about 3 minutes of holding off the mob as injured colleagues are being carried past. (12:30)

8) In terms of potential bomb planters, I’d try and ID and investigate these two guys. They seem very much on a mission. And they’re wearing gas masks. (picture from 13:26) https://pic.twitter.com/BqI3t7fAGf

9) Some time passes. There’s just some sightseeing. It sure is a beautiful building. Too bad they don’t seem to know Capitol is a public building and gives free tours. (15:30)

10) After ~6 min of wondering and gawking, the crowd reaches another line of maybe 10 cops. There’s some more brass here. They stop the crowd. But our man is correct: this mob won’t be stopped. Police seem unwilling to use force. Policy or self preservation I do not know. (19:00)

11) More time passes. ~7 minutes later, during which time the crowd has been held back by police. But then the mob surges forward once again. (27:00)

12) At this point this reminds of Sleep No More. Our man is trying to figure out where the main action is. Oh, hey, look, over there! (32:00)

13) And then we get to the scene of the shooting. Where a cop from behind the barricade fires one shot at the first person who breaches. That kills a woman and 1 shot seems to end things. The video goes for 5 more minutes (and I’ve posted the after shooting before) (35:00)

    1. I wonder what the headlines would read if there were more minorities here at this event. Instead of “storming the capitol” would the headlines read “rioting” and “looting” like they do for minorities? Would the police be as indecisive and apprehensive towards opening fire and using other means of force if these weren’t affluent white individuals as compared to minorities and reporters being shot and gassed for merely being in the area? Makes you think…

  1. Are there defined tactics for defending a building inside the halls like this, or is it expected that riots will be defended at the perimeter?

  2. This explication deserves much more attention. I’m a very pro-police blogger who also works with conservative citizen activist groups.

Over the last decade, I’ve observed in person every leftist group from BLM to Food Not Bombs to ANTIFA to Code Pink and of course Occupy assault police, damage property, trespass on private events and Capitol grounds, intimidate neighborhoods and take over public space relentlessly as the media and politicians egged them on. In contrast, I’ve observed hundreds of entirely peaceful and orderly meetings and rallies by the right.

This single anomaly needs to be discussed honestly for what it is and what it isn’t. In complete contrast with the left, the citizen right (TEA Party, older groups like Eagle Forum and CWA and JBS, and so on) is almost exclusively law abiding, police-respecting, good neighbor types. There is a small loud fraction of young libertarians, more like leftitarians, who take up a lot of space in the MSM and make a lot of noise in other people’s meetings and organizations, where they are treated far too politely by organizers who just aren’t used to dealing with underhanded political agitators. The Koch organizations, which are intensively anti-police, subsidize these types and use them to infiltrate and disrupt and try to take over organizations of polite social conservatives. I’ve seen good strong groups disband because a few of these people work their way in and begin giving orders, and frankly, social conservatives are non-confrontational to the point of being paralyzed by such agitators.

Then there’s the fringers. I suspect one in three of them are federal agents infiltrating and encouraging their behavior. They are in no way representative of anything, but the MSM and today’s FBI loves to play them up.

The vast majority of the people who attended Trump’s DC speech would never dream of assaulting a cop or trespassing. I think there were two entirely separate groups — one drawn to Trump, the other a motley, tiny crew of fringers, dumb leftitarians encouraged by Koch agitation, and leftists disguised as right-wingers (such as the young man who made this video).

If we had honest leadership in federal police agencies, the media, and the political left, ordinary police would have been far better informed, and the ones present wouldn’t have been making real-time decisions with bad intelligence being fed to them. I doubt there would have been any trouble at all.

The current biases of heads of big city, state and federal agencies, along with anti-police “policing” non-profits such as IACP, fed into feedback loops in the media and among Democratic politicians, endanger police and threaten the rights and livelihoods of entirely innocent conservative activists. We need to talk about all of this.

  3. Trump Supporters have become the fools of this nation. What was the point of this riot? Thank God we have a new president to stabilize the division we have in the United States. Police enforcements in Washington did not have any control over the rioters. Rubber bullets? Come on is this some kind of joke? Were they really trying to protect? they used real bullets with the rioters of the BLM movement but couldn’t use real bullets to stop the trump riot. this shows how unfair the United States really is.

  4. Overall, 2020 was a rough year for mostly everyone worldwide. We experienced the start of the pandemic, economic downfall, BLM movement, and the presidential election. I have strong opinions against Donald Trump, but I do believe he infiltrated the attack towards the capital after he felt betrayed by Mike Pence for not overturning the election. Don’t judge me too strong, I’m not a leftist either, but I am a strong believer of the United States constitution and its limitation of power to government officials. Donald Trump was sympathetic towards the capitol’s looters. He calmly told them in a video to calm down and go home. One thing is to loot a business, whereas the break in of the capitol is by definition domestic terrorism.

  5. The year 2020 will go down as one of the worst years in American History , a lot of this has to do with Americans perspective not only on the pandemic but the overwhelming need to prove something over and over for the same result. Storming the Capital created a lot of controversy and to no avail created aan already difficult passageway for the new President

  6. These rioters are living in their own world in which they actually believe they are doing the right thing for the United States by tearing down the Capitol. Although I do not believe former President Trump meant to incite these people at the rally to attack the Capitol, I do believe he involuntarily led these people to believe his outrageous claims throughout the election process. That is why these delusional Trump supporters believed they were doing the right thing by, “taking back what’s theirs” that fateful day.

  7. There was no reason for this riot. The protest could have been done in a more civilized manner. Storming into the nations capital, stealing, breaking objects, is a disrespect to the nation. Law enforcement could have done a better job at keeping rioters from entering the capital.

  8. This was an act of domestic terrorism. The definition of domestic terrorism is: The unlawful use of force or violence against persons or property to intimidate or coerce a Government, the civilian population, or any segment thereof, in furtherance of political or social objectives. … It is intended to coerce or intimidate governments or societies. Actual U.S. citizens went to storm into the Capitol building in hopes of preventing Congress from doing its job. I don’t consider myself a liberal or conservative, I just want to see this country succeed, and hopefully with this new government it will do so. A great country would be somewhere where everyone is respectful of their race, gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, beliefs, traditions.

  9. I am very upset at how these criminals would constantly put down the Black Lives Matter movement yet, try and succeed in storming the Capitol in hopes to turn the election results over. And for what? Time and time again, we have seen there has been no election fraud and every lawsuit Trump filed has been thrown away due to lack of efficient evidence. The underlying fact that these criminals went with the intent to overturn election results and even threatened to kill members of the House and the Senate, is disgusting and shows the true nature of Trump’s followers.

  10. The storming of the Capitol was a selfish act. This act that was committed by so many, was caused by so much rage. However, is that true? I believe some people joined the storming of the Capitol to finally commit a crime without any consequences. However, that was not the case. After the storming of the Capitol, some people who were involved are now facing criminal charges. I am glad they are, and I hope they serve time in jail. Maybe then they will not be so selfish.

  12. This riot just shows how selfish some people can be to get what they want. These rioters went into the capitol, armed, and they did not even care about the people who were in there actually working. They did not care that they could have hurt someone. This could have ended very badly and I am just glad that they got stopped before it got worse. It is so crazy how they even accomplished to get in there since the capitol is a highly secured building. I can only hope that they are all located and given the highest for of punishment possible.

  13. Leaving out the oh-so-wonderful debate between left versus right, I just want to say that the storming of the capitol, in and of itself, was a visual disgrace, and an utter embarrassment, that reflects very poorly of the United States. These rioters “took mattes into their own hands” and decided that it would be a great idea to revolt against the Senate vote of refusal to reverse the results of the 2020 election; in their minds, they were doing what Trump had PUBULICLY suggested on national television — “We will stop the steal”; “We will never give up. We will never concede.”; “If you don’t fight like hell you’re not going to have a country anymore”; We are going to the capitol”. Whether or not these quotes can be deemed incitement is another story; the fact of the matter is that none of this, probably, would’ve never happened if Trump hadn’t suggested such a thing. The extent of which the rioters took is something that was definitely not predicted as seen on the videos. I think the police handled the situation the best way they could. As for the woman who was shot and killed by the officer, I think, as much as I hate to admit it, it was justly done.

  14. It was a selfish act to storm the Capitol. This crime, which was carried out by a large number of people, was motivated by a great deal of rage. Is this, however, correct? I believe some people took part in the Capitol storming in order to finally commit a crime with no repercussions. That was not the case, however. Some of the people involved in the Capitol storming are now facing criminal charges. I’m glad they are, and I hope they are sentenced to prison. Maybe then they won’t be so self-centered. Although I don’t entirely put blame in those who did storm the capitol. I believe Trump had a lot to do with it as well.

  16. 2020 will definitely go down in history as one of the worst years in American history. As a society we faced a global pandemic and national division between our people. These events that unfolded at the Capital was horrifying to watch and very upsetting seeing these criminals getting treated like guests when storming. Police officers use of force in the Capital was non existent with crowd control and seemed to let them in with ease. I believe if it were a BLM movement storming the capital there would’ve been more repercussions to the crowd with a heavier use of force. Now a lot of the people who were documented vandalizing the Capital are facing felony charges and facing time.

  17. The storm on the Capitol was something that wasn’t expected to happen before the speech was made by President Trump. The fact the president was put on trial for the actions that were made due to his intended purpose while making his speech is incredible to have happened. The storming of the Capitol was a selfish act, This act that was committed by so many, was caused by so much rage. After the storming of the Capitol, some people who were involved are now facing criminal charges. They actually cause physical damage to specific individuals which looks very bad for the public.
