Sell Crack. Sue the City for Police Harrassment.

That seemed to be the recipe. The story by Patrice O’Shaughnessy in the NY Daily News.

  1. A lot of people sued the police for Constitutional violations and got settlements. Journalist cherry picks the few cases where the winners actually happened to be drug dealers and acted like that was the story. Wrong. The real story is all the innocent people got money, but not enough to actually deter bad police conduct.

If the police would stop violating innocent people, then they would have enough budget to fight the non-meritorious cases. And that is the real problem.

Yeah, it couldn't possibly be that their budget is getting hosed by an idiotic policy of writing a check to every guy who files a complaint.

  3. Yeah, and journalists are known for their incredibly pro-police bias (I'm writing that with sarcasm).

  4. they got the settlements in countersuits after their arrests were dropped…which means that the cops actually WERE doing something wrong.
