A good police perspectivefrom Lt Danie Furseth. I think his points are good… but I seriously doubt this is some contemporary perspective that wouldn’t have been valid 10, 20, 50, or 150 years ago.
And, since I can’t say it better myself, I will quote my friend and colleague John DeCarlo:

I read the link. Very good. But Lt. Furseth's beef is shared by almost anybody who works outside the private sector these days. Teachers are lazy union parasites who can't do. Regulators are either jackbooted dimwits who destroy wealth creation or revolving-door creatures of the regulated. Journalists and NGOs are trustafarian dimwits who malign wealth creation, unless they do nothing but comfort the comfortable and afflict the afflicted. Politicians are . . .
Well, maybe firefighters come out okay.
Cops have their own special problems. But they are also suffering from the same corrosive cynicism that has permeating our society since the 1960's.

I spend a lot of time in DeForest, my interaction with the police there is mainly "let's take our nephews to the police station to learn how to spray a fire hose" and "(cop knocks on door ) I wanted to let you know, the car out front has had its door left open since 6 PM so I just closed it." Like politicians, they seem to be doomed to doing a great job at satisfying needs locally and getting less and less respect nationally.
