Trouble in the Eastern

Off-duty officer accused of some pretty bad stuff. From the Sun:

Law enforcement sources say the .22-caliber rifle believed to have been used in the shooting was found inside his personal vehicle. Two boys, ages 12 and 13, have been charged with involuntary manslaughter; the officer has not been charged with any crime.

So much bad going on here. I got no special insight. But if you do, let me know.

  1. I didn't closely read the articles, but the first thing that occurred to me was that the officer, being friends with the family (?), was trying to cover up an accidental shooting to save the boys.

  2. That's what it seems to be saying.

Right or wrong motives, some might call that accessory to murder.

Cops cannot cover up a homicide. There's really no other way to describe it, if that is what happened.
